Global Initiatives, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization established in 1996. So far we have touched the lives of more than 3 million young people. We believe in three big ideas. First, that most young people in their teenage school years are filled with positive curiosity and energy. Second, that schools and school systems around the world can learn from each other. Third, that many young people respond best to learning by doing. Key elements in our success have been involving local businesses and global corporations in our work and partnering with other non-profits.
Based in Greenville, DE, Global Initiatives develops and distributes educational curricula on a variety of topics including sustainability, travel & tourism, and financial literacy among others and provides managements consulting services to non-profits in twelve countries. From 1996 to 2000, we administered the Global Travel & Tourism Partnership (GTTP), a Travel & Tourism educational program serving some 700,000 students in five continents. For details on this program, visit www.gttp.org. Currently, the President of Global Initiatives, Dr. Nancy Needham, serves as an Advisor to the GTTP Board.
Global Initiatives has developed financial literacy and business education programs that have been translated into Spanish, French, Russian, Chinese, Portuguese, and Hungarian.
